My Story

I found my passion for makeup after realizing that the insurance industry was stifling my creativity, leaving me feeling lost and unfulfilled. In search of a new direction, I began exploring the world of beauty, purchasing used books by the iconic Kevin Aucoin. His work inspired me to study images and the features that society often celebrates as beautiful. This journey led me to develop my own approach, which I call the Science of Pretty.

With a desire to empower women to achieve professional makeup artist looks every day, I created my own makeup brand, Science of Pretty. Through this platform, I not only offer high-quality products but also share essential makeup principles via social media. My mission is to help women embrace their unique beauty and glow confidently, no matter their skill level. By providing accessible tips and tutorials, I aim to demystify the art of makeup and encourage everyone to express themselves boldly.

12 Principles of Science of Pretty

1. Everyone looks good in neutral with some coolness & some warmth regardless of undertones.

2. The Golden Triangle feminizes a face while the edges reduce with contour.

3. Blush should start on the front plane of the face.

4. The greatest contrast on your face should be the whites of your eyes to the iris.

5. Brows should support the eyes as a secondary player, not main/primary.

6. Spaces hold memory so to learn new techniques, change your location.

7. Doing your makeup when it doesn't matter is the best way to test limits and make progress.

8. Good clean lighting aiming at your face is better than neutral light, overhead light, and bathroom lights.

9. Curves find curves, light finds light, dark finds dark, colors find colors.

10. Remove the natural colors from your face but bring them all back in a better shade for a natural look.

11. Makeup isn't really for you, it's for all the people who look at you.

12. Learn to look at yourself from someone else's perspective by looking into your own eyes at an arms length distance and talk to yourself animatedly so you see your profile.
